Want to know what imaging professionals think about increases in fee-for-service payments, integrating imaging and population health, and how fast imaging is moving to the cloud? Just ask the developers of “Future Proofing Your Healthcare Imaging Systems,” a HealthData Management webinar.
The presentation included Joe Biegel, McKesson vice president of corporate strategy; Nadim Daher, principal analyst at Frost & Sullivan; and Mike Perkowski, cofounder and partner of New Reality Media. Alongside expert insights from the speakers, Perkowski ran three polling questions during the webinar, and the results will no doubt be of interest to imaging executives.
As risk is pushed from payers to providers and from providers to specialties like radiology and even patients (in the form of higher deductibles), imaging vendors must focus more on outcomes.
“Questions like, ‘What do you think about deconstructed PACS’ are almost becoming irrelevant,” said Daher. “The ‘right’ technology stack is designed with outcomes in mind. Whether an imaging facility uses a more conventional technology stack centered around a PACS or something more modular, the real issue is: what is it supposed to accomplish?”
Thus, imaging executives should challenge their vendors and seek out those with a breadth and depth of solutions, a track record of vendor-neutrality and interoperability, a reliable services arm and advanced analytics capabilities.
