At McKesson Medical Imaging we’re passionate about cardiology, and we’re also passionate about cardiology education, especially for up-and-coming cardiologists.  That’s why we’re pleased to pass on information about several upcoming grants and fellowships from the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).

Some application deadlines are coming up soon, so spread the word to colleagues and friends in Europe.

1.      ESC Research Grants. Medical graduates and science graduates with cardiology research experience who have not yet obtained a permanent or senior position are eligible for this one-year grant. Applicants should have some medical journal publications to their credit. Application deadline: 15 January 2011.

2.      Interventional Cardiology Training and Research Grants. This award pays for a one-year experience in cardiology practices outside of a candidate’s country from. Applicants must be members of the European Association for Percutaneous Cardiovascular  Interventions (EAPCI). The EAPCI awarded six grants in 2010. Application Deadline: 15 January 2011.

3. Research Fellowships of the Heart Failure Association (HFA). Clinical and scientific researchers with high-quality research experience may apply. These fellowships may be held for two years. Application deadline: 14 April 2011.

4. ESC First Contact Initiative Grant. This 2500 Euro award covers the cost of visiting an institution in or outside of Europe so that a young researcher can develop a cardiology research project and take the necessary steps toward obtaining a grant or fellowship. 5. Outstanding Achievement Award. Those involved in basic cardiology research who have established themselves as independent investigators are eligible for this 3000 Euro award, which is presented at the ESC Congress in August. Application Deadline: 15 May 2011.
